Edward Martinez

Incarcerated for a murder he did not commit.

Wrongfully imprisoned for 16 years.

On July 21, 2006, Edward Martinez was sentenced to 55 years for a First-Degree Murder he did not commit. On discrepant evidence, he was found guilty a​s an aider and abettor for his role as the driver of the vehicle the shooter was in to and from the scene of the crime in Washington, D.C. on April 13, 2003.

Martinez did not have prior knowledge that David Hicks, the decedent, would be shot that night. The shooter, who threatened to kill Martinez’s sister if Martinez gave away his name, escaped to Atlanta, GA, and was never tried or identified in court.

M​artinez is currently 42 years old and is incarcerated in USP Beaumont, Texas. His expected release is in 2052. He will be 73 years old.
